Cool A.D. was raised in the Bronx, NY. On his sixth birthday his uncle started teaching him how to deejay. Not long after he started, he began spinning small parties and went under the name of D.J.Cool A.D. By the year 1985 he started deejaying with the legendary Afrika Bambaataa and the Zulu Nation.

1990 was a big year for D.J.Cool A.D. that is when he won his first of six consecutive annual deejay battles and started really getting big in the clubs. It was because of those battles he met his mentor, who was one of the guest judges and none other than "Kool DJ Red Alert". Red invited Cool A.D. down to the radio station he used to work at, on numerous occasions.
