At 16, Mr Cat began DJing after becoming fascinated with his parents vinyl collection.
... actually, let's quit the third-person talk!
Who know's what attracted me to them, but I began collecting vinyls by the time I started college. Around the same time, I also started using music production software to remix songs and discover the possibilities of editing audio to create new sounds. It wasn't until I was 17, however, that I started going to bars and taking an interest in the mysterious 'DJ'. Sometimes I'd go extra early to see how they set up and prepared a gig, and of course, how they managed to act-react to the audience. If the bug was being creative, then I got it.
And so, after making friends with those DJ's, I myself became one. With cheap equipment sprawled on my sisters bedroom floor, I practiced for 2-hours a night. The best advice I got? Listen to as many different kinds of music as possible, because although you may not like it all, there is skill to appreciation.
