Istanbul
Istanbul based independent artist Can Demirok balances the experimental thoughts of other members of the label ‘Caffeination’ with retro sounds based off punk, grunge, shoegaze, indie, and other alternative bands. In an age which is saturated with music genres, Demirok celebrates his love for specific scenes which may otherwise become lost in the flow of history to all but their most avid followers. For Can Solo, he bases his sound off household names like My Bloody Valentine, Interpol, Jesus and Mary Chain and classic rock such as the Kinks and the Rolling Stones, as well as smaller bands such as Brian Jonestown Massacre, Galaxie 500 and Guided by Voices. By updating these influences for the present day, he also hopes to share his love for not only the big names but also the underground members of their respective scenes - which may not have gained as much fame in their heyday but nevertheless were crucial parts of underground music culture.
