The Worldwide When – David Muddyman (aka The Muudman)
Dave Muddyman is composer and founder member of the band Loop Guru. He was also contributing co-editor of World Music: The Rough Guide and has written on a variety of aspects of World Music for the several other Rough Guides, the Insight guide to Morocco, and has written reviews for Gramophone and Songlines. Dave has also compiled albums of World Music for labels Union Square and Nascente.
The Worldwide When is 90-minute monthly programme. Each programme has a theme. These themes could be as diverse as a musical journey around the Mediterranean or down the coast of East Africa; Accordions that shock the World; or only playing songs from place beginning with a specific letter (which would enable him to play lots of music from some his favourite countries Zanzibar, Zimbabwe, Zaire (as it was called during the heyday of Congolese music) and Zambia. All from his own collection of around 4000 World music albums.
