New York, United States
VP Records was founded in New York in the late 1970s by Vincent and Patricia Chin, who had run Randy's Record Mart and Randy's Studio 17 over the previous two decades in Kingston, Jamaica. The New York chapter of their journey saw reggae make the transition to dancehall and achieve its mainstream acceptance. The label has amassed a catalog of over 25,000 recordings, including subsidiary label Greensleeves Records, and additional imprints including Dub Rockers, 17 North Parade, and the independent distribution arm VPAL Music.
