Originally hailing from Cape Town, Totem broke into the South African Drum and Bass scene during mid 2010. With the aid of Brick City, he was provided with a platform into the Cape Town electronic music scene and an opportunity to bring a new approach and take on the breakbeat genre.

Since then, going from strength to strength, he has now played in nightclubs in and around Cape Town and South Africa, including notable tours to Grahamstown, Port Elizabeth and Jeffrey's Bay; played gigs in Thailand, which included both the full moon and new years beach parties; and has more recently featured at some of Cape Town's outdoor festivals, such as Synergy Live, Rezonance, NYE festival and Afrika Burn 2012. Along the way he has played alongside a host of both local and international drum and bass heavyweights, including Drumsound & Bassline Smith, Nymfo, Counterstrike and Niskerone.
