Total Abstraction is a collaboration between two aspiring South African electronic DJs, joining forces to bring a fresh approach to DJing in the local club scene. The resulting Total Abstraction sound is a unique blend of different styles and EDM genres. Their live sets are typically filled with crazy mashups and dancefloor destroyers, mixed with cutting edge techniques and effects.
Total Abstraction’s breakthrough came in early 2012, when they won the SAtrancefamily Epic Trance Competition, with a mix that was described as “top-class” by South African radio veteran, Derek ‘The Bandit’. Since then, Total Abstraction was featured on UJFM, a local radio station which reaches over 30 000 listeners.
Total Abstraction has headlined events at venues across South Africa, including Tokyo Star [JHB], The Purple Turtle [CT] (co-headlined alongside one of SA’s most accomplished trance producers, Jason van Wyk), and Johannesburg’s premier electronic dance music venue: Truth Nightclub.
