There is probably no bigger male Gypsy music personality who survived in both Czech pop and jazz scene plus with legend of enormous music talent as Tony Gondolán, singer, composer and also political activist. Quoting virtuoso violinist Josef Suk there are no differences between his and Antonín Gondolán´s musical abilities.

Antonín ´Tony´ Gondolán was born on the 13th June 1942 in Brutovce near Spišské Podhradí, Slovakia to Gypsy music oriented father with his family of 13 children.

At Tony´s age of 2 they moved to Bohemia, CzechoSlovakia. At early childhood Tony started to play violin as his dad but soon later guitar and double bass, playing all family at weddings and birthdays over settled area of Jesenik, Vrchlabi or Prague.

As 15 Tony was shown to the big band leader Gustav Brom, because Tony played on bass whatever he heard from radio and played differently than the rest of the family. Later Gustav Brom managed the band joining as well as the school of State Conservatory...
