Toby Wiltshire is a composer and sound artist who currently lives and works in Leeds where he completed an MA in Composition at Leeds College of Music for which he received a distinction and the Conservatoire Prize for Masters.
Toby’s approach to composition is heavily influenced by the visual arts which results in his work being focused on contrasting textures and depth of field rather than linear musical development, often inhabiting the area between ambient music and sound art. In live performance he combines fixed media with improvised elements to compose and create exciting and disorientating sonic art.
Toby has composed for the Gwen Rakotovao contemporary dance company in New York and his audiovisual piece ‘Division of Time’ was performed at the 2015 International Festival for Artistic Innovation in Leeds. His work also formed part of the ‘Quiet Street-Cities and Memory’ physical and digital sound installation in Bath 2015 and is featured on the
