The House of St Barnabas supports those affected by homelessness back into lasting paid work by offering integrated hospitality training and work experience in their social business; a not-for-profit private members’ club in Soho. The club is a dynamic, cultural space for the continually curious, the interested and interesting and those who are motivated by social change.
The pioneering charity believe that social and cultural exclusion often go hand in hand, and seeks opportunities to open its doors to a diverse group of people, enabling them to experience different ways to see and understand the world. Art Social is one such opportunity; all participants and graduates of the Employment Academy have been invited to attend as guests and, if they are interested, to gain valuable practical experience working on a multi-disciplinary arts festival. Participants have also attended a workshop with the artist Hester Reeve which has influenced her site-specific installation.
