Inspired by disco and funkadelic, DJ James Harris known as “The Blackman”, started as a DJ and musician in Detroit’s underground music scene in the early 1980’s. He went on to DJ and make music with multiple indie and national acts over the years. His musical tastes are eclectic, with a deep love for funk, soul, blues and jazz. The Blackman has a strong appreciation for regional music as well. When he is not spinning records, you can find him creating art through singing, producing music and painting.
