During my formative years I used to listen to black music (funk, soul, hip-hop) only, then widened my musical tastes and interests.
Today I can say (quoting the O'Jays): "I love music, any kind of music - I love music, just as long as it's groovin'".
My Facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/djsupabrown
My shows are collected in playlists:
- Doo-Bop: jazzin' hip-hop and hip-hoppin' jazz;
- Supalounge!: the music of an imaginary jazzy lounge club (background but high-quality music);
- Funky Time (funk, the whole funk, nothing but the funk);
- Mod Mood: the kind of black music appreciated by mods (60's rhythm'n blues, northern soul and jazz);
- Cafè di lu mari: my idea of a true mediterranean chillout experience (chillout, jazz and more);
- Disco Nights: dance music from the disco era (disco, soul, boogie, funk etc.);
- Let's Get It On: soul music to make love to;
- fake soundtracks: music for never-shot movies;
- da boombox: funk and funky hip-hop.

Supalounge! mixtapes

Supalounge! mixtapes

by Supabrown

Dear friends,
when I started my Supalounge! series I hadn't in mind what "lounge music" means today (that is, downtempo chillout), but what it meant in the 50's.
My idea was to record mixtapes featuring background high-quality music (jazz, swing, bossa nova, fusion, latin sounds, a bit of electroswing) with a touch of humor (weird covers, crazy mashups ...): the kind of music you could hear in a jazzy cocktail lounge or nightclub.
After the first seven episodes the concept started to change: under the name "Supalounge!" I uploaded very different and eclectic mixtapes (the only thing they have in common - and not always! - is the jazz element).
Now in Supalounge! there are no limits: you can hear any kind of music (from jazz to trip hop, from funk to deep house, from break 'n bossa to ...).
So in my Supalounge! playlist ( https://www.mixcloud.com/Supabrown/playlists/supalounge/ ) you can find straight jazz selections, music for burlesque shows, dj-sets for New Year's Eve parties, soundtracks to never-shot movies (noir, porn, "poliziottesco", horror/sexploitation etc.), brazilian compilations, music to match summertime aperitives and brunches or sexy special moments, sophisticated soul & jazz selections, my personal interpretation of shows by other dj's (DJ Riccio's "Jazz N Palms" and Fiorella Flowertrip's "Soulflowergroove") and much more (even two latin and one reggae extravaganzas).
No matter which mixtape you choose, you'll be entertained.
Everyone is welcome in my fictional club!
Yours truly,
Supabrown
