Suede Dontaine was destined to envelop and release a diverse and deeply rooted spirit of strength, passion, rhythm and legacy. Suede is beyond mere survival; he is the embodiment of the making of a legend. All of these qualities come to fruition through his musical talents, invigorating disc jockeying and masterful productions.
Raised in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, by two strong and inspirational women, his mother and grandmother, music was always at the core of his life. At the tender age of 9 years his musical precociousness as a vocalist and drummer afforded him music contracts with two major record labels. This prodigy executed performances in some of New York’s famed night clubs and grew up under the tutorship of and/or direct exposure to such artists as James Brown, Jimmy Caster, Wilson Pickett, the Isley Brothers, Gene Page, Sticks Evens, Bernie Casey, and Stanley Banks.
