I spend my freelance checks on jazz recordings. I earn them by writing for DownBeat, the Los Angeles (Times, Weekly, Record, CityBeat, Magazine) and the New York City Jazz Record. I have a book called "Los Angeles's Central Avenue Jazz." It is available in the usual online markets (Amazon, Powell's, Weird Book Room) and creaky spindles in LA bookstores. All of these tracks are snagged from scratchy LPs and the occasional 78rpm. Thank you for listening.
