Gabriel Taksa A.K.A. Southpaw first heard Drum & Bass in '97. A Pomona rave, a green camouflage filled room and jump up blasting from the speakers. In 2000 Southpaw bought his Technics and a Vestax mixer. Always precise and analytical he studied the ways of the mix and the scratch. In 2003 he landed a weekly spot on dnbradio.com. Over the years Southpaw has been influenced by all styles of Drum & Bass, spinning anything from neuro, to dancefloor, to melodic, and of course the stabs, crabs, and flares. In 2006 Southpaw’s mixes caught the ear of the legendary MCMC who asked him to join the LA drum and bass crew Grapevinez. In 2009 Southpaw linked up with long time friends Divine Elements. He signed on as the scratch DJ bringing a skillful addition to an already amazing group of talent. Taking influence from quality music of all genres, you can simply describe Southpaw as someone who loves music.
