DJ Sy Finn — My Journey
My journey into electronic dance music started way back in the early ’90s, clubbing around Leeds and Manchester and watching some of the DJs who were shaping the scene, including Graham Park, Sasha, Mike Pickering and many more.
I completely fell in love with electronic dance music — so much so that I saved up for my first pair of Technics 1210s, a crappy second-hand mixer and just two records! 😂
I’d spend nights standing next to the DJ booth, watching the DJs work their magic on vinyl, trying to mentally learn every technique. Then I’d get home, switch the turntables on and practise until I could recreate what I’d seen.
It wasn’t long before the house parties started. I’d regularly invite friends and random people back to mine after the clubs, where we’d carry on raving until the early hours — and sometimes even for days! 😂 Music was no longer just something I listened to; it was becoming a huge part of my life.
