Kinky P is a mostly Vinyl Reggae Selectress, Reggae Visual Artist, and co-founder of Beatdown Soundsystem in Chicago. Lover of dub-roots-reggae music, Kinky P started a clothing company in 2005 called Kinky Reggae, sponsoring Chicago Reggae Selectors and Bands while visually telling the story of reggae music through hand silk screened custom made apparel. As a Selectress, Kinky P has played in the USA from coast to coast, as well as Mexico, Costa Rica, and Malta . During her travels to Europe, Kinky P experienced the Soundsystem culture in London’s Notting Hill Carnival and the University of Dub where the amplified HiFi sound, heavy bass, and conscious lyrics inspired her to share that dub mass experience with the city of Chicago by co-founding Beatdown Soundsystem in 2018 and creating Dub Club Chicago. Kinky P continues to advocate, promote, and represent Reggae-Dub-Roots music through Soundsystem sessions and with a growing art exhibition that depicts the roots of Soundsystem.
