The Big Screen Symposium is the annual event that puts the filmmakers of Aotearoa New Zealand in one venue for the purpose of discussion, information and inspiration. The weekend is designed for all those who bring our stories to the big screen: from directors, writers and producers to musicians, actors and technicians to business people, distributors and film students. It presents a big picture of the world of cinema, a great networking opportunity, and a wealth of insights and nuts and bolts information on the pertinent issues facing filmmakers today.
In 2016 the Big Screen Symposium took place on 24/25 September 2016, and attracted over 450 delegates. The programme was built around the theme ‘Playing With Risk,’ and delegates were immersed in two intensive days of conversations, workshops, panel discussions and case studies with a stellar line-up of local and international filmmaker speakers.
