Sheares Beats, hailing from National University of Singapore’s Sheares Hall, was started in 2012 by Lim Dao Jun and Kenneth Ng, two men with a passion for music. Together, they pooled together their skills and knowledge of DJing and started Sheares' Electronic Music Production (EMP) group, dedicating themselves to teaching the craft of DJing and electronic music to all those interested. Eventually, Sheares EMP was rebranded as Sheares Beats (stylised SHbeats), a collective of musicians and DJs pledged to pushing the boundaries of electronic music.

Since then, Sheares Beats has grown in number, training dedicated and skilled DJs and sending members to spin events for NUS and NTU, as well as open deck nights, ranging from regular parties to orientation camp finales to national sports events, in venues from Home Club to Hard Rock Coliseum to Zouk and Phuture.

Our vision has always to take in whoever shows a deep interest in music of all forms, regardless of skills.
