Radio Eclectus presents its second annual edition devoted to radical *old* music: a survey of the past year’s most intriguing recordings of Medieval, Renaissance and early Baroque music. From the earliest experiments with polyphony and music notation, through plagues and religious wars, ending with opera, tonal harmony and the origins of modern music as we know it, join us as we marvel at the spirit of innovation and exploration present in the avant-garde of centuries past.
Hildegard, Machaut, Landini, Ciconia, Josquin, Gesualdo, Monteverdi and Strozzi are among the featured composers, our playlist ranging from the 9th through the 17th centuries. Music that’s too archaic, obscure and abstruse for most classical music shows, but perfectly aligned with our mission to showcase the strongest, most far-reaching music we can find, interpreted by the leading lights of the early music revival.
