Radio Eclectus returns with a tribute to the late Milford Graves, a peek into some newly-unearthed Julius Hemphill recordings and a generous slice of David Shea’s new project, The Thousand Buddha Caves. We’ll honor Robert Millis on his 55th birthday, and a pair of Miles Davis and Derek Bailey classics on their 50th anniversary. Meanwhile, Kuljit Bhamra taps on a half-dozen tuned tabla while the Bozzini Quartet taps out Alvin Lucier. Sampo Haapamäki writes for voices while Robert Carl writes for strings. Langham Research Centre plumbs the echoes of Brutalism, while the enigmatic Xinjiang native Wang Xiao offers an experimental slant on Central Asian music. New improvisational tracks from Doug Thomas, Wilfrido Terrazas and the GC/NC and Satoko Fujii/Ikue Mori duos round out the playlist. Radical new music from the Northwest and beyond with host Michael Schell.
