Radio Eclectus #62: Hildegard von Bingen (Sep. 17, 2020)

00:00

For her feast day, Radio Eclectus honors Hildegard of Bingen—the famous 12th century composer, abbess and mystic—with a grand tour of new and classic recordings of her music, coupled with contemporary works directly inspired by her. Sequentia, Garmarna, Bora Yoon, Judith Weir, Hugh Collins Rice, Zad Moultaka, Ensemble De Caelis, Seattle Pro Musica, The Gesualdo Six and the Hildegurls are among the featured artists. We also celebrate the 66th BD of Joël-François Durand with the broadcast premiere of a new work for solo violin. And we commemorate the 60th anniversary of John Cage’s Cartridge Music, the origin of today's noise and live electronic music traditions. Radical new music from the Northwest and beyond with host Michael Schell.

“A great show with impeccable sonic adventures” -W. David Oliphant (The Bastard Kings of Samadhi)
