Hailing from the Deep South, Psykayda is Jessica Ruthven—DJ, organizer, promoter, and lover of psytrance. Although born and raised in Mississippi, she is currently based in Saint Louis, MO as part of the Midwest Psytrance Scene in the United States.

A long-time member of the trance and goth/industrial crowds in Saint Louis, she discovered psytrance while living in South Africa from 2010-2011. From her first Cape Town party, she was caught and never looked back. The sound Psykayda seeks to convey in her sets is like the sustained reverberation of her namesake’s song--a cicada’s relentless, resonant, distinct, and erratic tone that pushes the limits of the human ear. At times dissonant and cacophonous; at others, harmonious and melodic.

Heavily influenced by the Cape Town crews, she often incorporates work coming out of that region. In addition, she is known for bringing hectic energy to events and is affiliated with Spacecamp Psyfari (Midwest).
