Dance music was somewhat scarce in the North West province during the late 60's and early 70's. This was around the same time that my folks were collecting music. The likes of Tina Turner and John Amatrain were amongst the many records and cassette tapes that made up the vast collection. Kwaito or the then Bubble Gum music made up a huge part of this historic collection. Thus inevitably this would be the music that I would come to be exposed to. As a boy, I remember listening to the Peter Stuyvesant Music Spectacular over and over again; thinking that one day I would marry Tina Turner.
Records slowly made way for cassette tapes in the house hold HI-FI systems. Listening to the then new artists music it was then I realized that it was a particular genre or artist I was feeling drawn towards but music as a whole. I started following my uncle's collection of music. This was the time tapes were making way for the now still popular CDs.
