Music and translation studies exist in academia, yet they are inaudible, tucked away in journals or pages of publications. There is an infinitely growing number of music shows out t/here, but they are mainly focused on listening to music rather than talking about it. Similarly, there is a plethora of shows about music, looking at all sorts of aspects, yet this time, mostly only snippets of songs can be heard.
This is perhaps understandable, as it is not that easy to talk about music: “This kind of language cannot be translated into anything else, except itself. You can translate music into music.” (Minors, 2012)
Ms Translation takes the odd job of experiencing and talking about music whilst using translation as a framework. It is interested in music and also talking about music, in a miscellaneous, curious and collaborative manner, paradoxically, where words struggle the most.
