My parents both turned 60 in November. I rummaged through old boxes of photos to scan up a slide show for the associated party, which brought on a cavalcade of memories, amusement and even a few tears. Manly, noble tears.
In the late 80s, said parents ditched my sister and I at their friend’s house and took off to rent a camper van in the Yukon. They would’ve been a few years younger than I am now.
Coming across this photo of their camper out there in the wilderness and knowing they had at least a small opportunity to escape their undoubtedly annoying children was somehow soothing. It also looked like a trip that I could afford, which is different than the trips they take now.
And I like picturing bears nearby with funny 80s sweaters & moustaches as they definitely had at that time.
