I really care about the public defender crisis in the US. Why? -You walk into the office, with 250 people who desperately need your support and protection in a criminal accusation and case. You clock in and exhaustively fight legal inaccuracies, and speak for those whose words are meant to be used against them. You choke down your frustrations knowing you exist in a world where your state is willing to spend any amount of money to convict any person, and will CONSTITUTIONALLY produce 5% of what is necessary per law. The bare minimum. Respect public defenders. Know your rights. You don't have to answer law enforcement questions upon initial interaction in a traffic stop. No you don't consent to a search of your person or property. AND MAKE DAMN SURE THAT THEIR BODY CAMERAS are ON and UNMUTED. Ask for a lawyer even when you could talk. You hear me? Good. DJMR.
