Milly Coury (aka Milly Ericson) was born in Youngstown, Ohio on December 24, 1927. When she was still a child, her family moved to Detroit Michigan where her father opened a grocery store. She was always singing and dancing around the house according to her older sister, Rosemary. Barely out of High School, Milly started singing professionally with local bands in Detroit and also traveled to Panama with a group of girl singers to perform in nightclubs there. Once back home, she joined the big band circuit and traveled the country with Ray Anthony, Tommy Dorsey and Chuck Foster. Around 1949, Milly joined WBBM CBS Radio in Chicago’s famed Wrigley Building as their staff “girl singer”, where she sang her way through the day beginning with Jim Conway’s daily morning show, was a regular on CBS’s TV popular program “Luncheon with Billy” and sang her way through countless other CBS radio musical variety shows all day and into the evening.
