When I worked at a small publishing company in London called Turnstone Books, we published a book by a former member of The Springfields, about his experience with Sufism. It is a wonderful book, now sadly out of print. This picture has, rather crudely, been referred to as a 'Whirling Dervish'. When I first came to Lancaster in 1991 I did experience Sufi dancing which is very moving and peaceful.
