Matthew Logan is a one-man band from Vancouver. He writes all of the instrumental parts for his music, and he plays all of the parts in most of his recordings. His new album The Network showcases a more electronic take on progressive metal. It is full of mind-blasting drumbeats, melodic synthesizer patterns, and diverse 5-string electric violin riffs. The violin and the drums and are where his expertise lies, but he also plays the guitar, bass, and piano. He has been performing on his violin for over 10 years, and he also has performance experience as a drummer. While studying classical music at UVic, he developed his musical taste palate as well as his performance abilities to get his Bachelor’s degree. In writing his music, he draws from influences ranging from historical classical music to math core. His music bridges the understanding of music theory and forms in classical music with a modern taste of progressive metal.
