A newborn musical outfit from Paris, MAÂT is a trio of musicians comprising Tim Defives aka Tim Karbon, Maxime Castanet aka La Syncope and Adrien Colle, one of Mawimbi’s main men.

Long-time friends and sometimes collaborators, the three MAÂT members have been playing together for a few years, beginning with clumsy covers of jazz-funk greats and a shared love for British broken beat. Together they have been nurturing a wide approach to so-called “jazz music”, going different directions and incorporating elements from fourth world ambient, dub, balearic, African and house music.

MAÂT members first started writing material in the summer of 2017, while staying in the Morvan region. “Feathers” describes their iterative work process, trying to find a way to make room for live instruments and achieve a unique blend of influences. Their debut LP will be out later this year on German label Growing Bin.
