I dropped out of high school into reverse engineering. As a Quaker, I came to realize I'm not meant for defense contracting. Looking back, patently offensive projects were much harder, my integrity failed, I sacrificed my core values, I got bullied, worked overtime for years on end, and they nearly killed me. Purely defensive projects tested my mettle, but then I met all specifications satisfactorily. I'm getting out of that business, into pure research. I'm studying brain science on the side.
