I have loved the dance music scene since its birth in the late 80's and began raving regularly in 1993 until 1996 when I felt a massive change and transformation taking place that seemed removed from the "peace, love & unity" motto from the first "summers of love". I consciously went to my "last rave" in 1996 where I went out with a bang - dancing on stage at World Dance! But the music never leaves your soul and as soon as my sister introduced me to the new emerging sounds of UKG I was instantly hooked! This uplifting music that sampled soulful vocals alongside old skool rave sounds - I just couldn't get enough! I have been itching to do a UKG mix, but it is not so easy to find the old skool tracks that I loved from back in the early days. Up until now when an amazing friend of mine passed on some 600+ tracks to fill my boots with - HAPPY DAYS!! So here it is, just for you, my first ever UKG mix!! I hope you enjoy this fusion of uplifting vocals along with some heavier basslines! LL <3

Sorry Lady - I completely forgot to leave a comment after listening last week! I thoroughly enjoyed this one - brought back from nice memories from my clubbing days - always had a softspot for some 2-step! Eastern Jam - such a wicked tune and probably one of the best dubstep tunes made imo - I was never a huge dubstep fan, but that track used to get regularly dropped in dnb sets around 2008 and really caught my ears at the time! Big ups and big respect as always! :)

Awesome session Lara, you did a great job of putting such classic tracks together and mixing them so well throughout :) nice to hear the tracks Dub Conspiracy, Crazy Love and Joyrider (definitely one of my favourites!) you've inspired me to look into what UKG tracks I've got in the library :) I've got lots of cool stuff on vinyl from when I used to play UKG but I don't think anyone wants to hear me murder some classic tracks on my old decks 🤣 big respect for this one, classic stuff!

Great mix LadyLight, I was realy interested to hear what you would do when I checked out your track list. I'm a big fan of oldskool UKG and I have a few of those and many more on vinyl somewhere. Mixing was amazing as always and the whole vibe throughout was flowing perfectly :-)
Yes yes Raw - I am honoured to have your opinion on this one as you are a pro at rinsing the UKG and this was my first time and it's way different from mixing jungle!!! I was trying to go for the proper old skool flow that I loved from back in the day and I was quite pleased with how it turned out so I am overjoyed to have your seal of approval - thank you bro - I would love to hear you mix some UKG??? Show us how it's done!!! There will be more of these to come as I have not even skimmed the surface of the amazing choons I was so kindly given - so watch this space..... ;-) one <3
Well...I do enjoy my garage, and I do like a mix occasionally. So theoretically it's possible ;-) But you've set a very high bar here to be fair. I wont commit to anything right now but maybe, possibly, in the future. Who knows ;-)
