Kawsaki is the solo project of Kwame Sakyi Jr. a long time electronic musician based out of Ann Arbor, MI. He started composing electronic music while attending Tappan Middle School in the late '90s. One of his music teachers had a MIDI setup in his classroom, equiped with a Korg Keyboard and a copy of Opcode's "Studio Vision" software. Sakyi would spend most of his 8th grade lunch hours there creating tunes and dubbing his productions to tape.
In high school he joined a group of friends who had a love for Hip Hop and they started making actual songs. During the 2000s, he continued working with local Hip Hop artists, and did production work on several unfinished albums.
By 2009, Sakyi would start to experience a great deal of frustration and a lack of growth in the Hip hop genre, and by 2010 moved on to Electronic Music.
