American-born Lagos-bred Nigerian singer-songwriter KUKU bridges the gap between his Yoruba roots and the western world. After years of touring and four independent releases in the US, KUKU relocated to France. There he released the critical acclaimed 2012 album "Soldier of Peace" (Balogun ÌRÒRÙN). According to French magazine AMINA, KUKU straddles the worlds of Fela Kuti and Cat Stevens. His haunting and nostalgic voice is continually mentioned in context with some of his diverse and biggest influences, such as Pierre Akendengue and Screamin' Jay Hawkins. The former US army soldier has been a tireless musical force for more than a decade now, but if you ask him he will tell you that he is just getting started.
In 2013 he lent his voice to the ORANGE sponsored advert for the African Cup of Nations, singing the legendary Liverpool Football Club anthem 'You’ll Never Walk Alone'. (Read more at www.kukulive.com)
