The Justice For Cleaners campaign at SOAS supports our out sourced ISS workers in their struggle for equal working conditions as other SOAS staff. The students union supports the cleaners in this fight and through the Justice For Cleaners campaign fights alongside them and their trade union.

At present, the SOAS cleaners are out-sourced workers. This means that SOAS contracts ISS, the cleaning service provider, who in turn contracts the workers. The workers have to put up with the terms and conditions of an ISS contract which does not include the same rights to SICK PAY, HOLIDAY´S and PENSIONS as other SOAS workers. Their terms and conditions are of SECOND CLASS WORKERS.

Our cleaners provide an essential service to the SOAS environment. Why do they not receive sick pay, holiday´s and pensions just like the other staff?
