Since a very young age Joost Ruyter created a huge passion for music. Playing all kinds of musical instruments (playing drums for several years) and growing up in a very musical household (his father playing guitar and has a very big vinyl collection) made him listen to influences such as Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, Toto and Genesis, but also growing up in times of Run Dmc, Michael Jackson, Madonna and Beastie Boys formed his base music-wise.

You can always notice this really broad taste in music in his sets.. There's not really a specific genre Joost Ruyter belongs to. Either if it's techno or house or disco, he just wants to play music which sounds good to him and the people he plays for, what feels right. You do hear that soul, funk and groove are always forming some kind of blueprint.
