Jon 'Mojo' Mills and Andy Morten introduce their special mix of music solely from 1966 on the back of Shindig! Magazine issue #53, which is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the year that changed music. There's no Beatles or Stones or Dylan. Instead The Shadows Of Knight, Lee Dorsey, The Birds, The Buzz, The Misunderstood, The Squires, The Blue Things, The Dovers and The Cavemen get a look in. Love, The Yardbirds, The Pretty Things, Herman's Hermits, Tim Hardin, Aretha Franklin and David Bowie offer some fame.
Of course, with the sad passing of Bowie Jon and Andy pay their respects to one of the most influential and intriguing artists the UK has produced.
Shindig! Magazine issue #53 will be in the shops from January 14th

I love all the broadcasts but this may be the best one!
Great feature on Herman Hermits. Digging the 45s listed
Thanks. They made some great sides. Such a shame they were marketed as a teenybopper band.
Thanks for an excellent podcast!! Masters Apprentices, The Buzz, The Dovers, The Misunderstood, Wimple Winch & The Squires amongst others, all in one place. Didn't actually realise they were all from 1966. Looking forward to this issue arriving in the letterbox here in Australia. Greg Watt(West Aust)
Thanks Andy too!
Nice n' raw, just how we like it. Thanks Jon! Bevis Wilson. Mill Valley ca.
Cheers!
Enjoyed this. Ashamed to admit three of these songs are not in my collection.
How odd Hugh. I have ingrained in my memory on Breakfast TV. It must have been normal news then. Thanks for clearing that up.
Channel 4 didn't launch till November 2, 1982,, Mr. Mils.
:-)
Hi Gary, We do one of these for each issue. To license music of this kind for a cover mount would be prohibitive. This however is legal and free. Please tune in again
very cool - you should compile CDs, you should do cool CDs on the cover, er, you should keep doing this.
