If we can go back to Wild Beasts debut performance on Later with Jools Holland in 2009 then I can trace back the exact time when I had my head turned by the immersing sounds of this sublime four piece.
Being a lad from the coast and hearing 'All The King's Men' (which sounds like it should be used in a drama production). I was utterly intrigued by who these "girls from Whitby" were, and, what they'd done to worm their way into a Wild Beasts track. I did have the perfect opportunity to ask Hayden this when I bumped into him in a club in Leeds...but the answer he gave, I forgot.
Now on their 5th album, 'BOY KING' is a completely different kettle of fish...still imaginative and unique but now even bigger, dirtier and bolder.
I spoke to Tom Fleming and Chris Talbot before their show in Hull and asked them why they've described their latest release as a 'self-destructive' record...
