Jacqueline Michael Slate is a Los Angeles-based writer, former LA Weekly Music Critic and participant observer of dj cultures. Jacqueline developed a penchant for song selection while growing up in musically imbued Detroit and Los Angeles households. After years of observing live dj sets at music events in and around Los Angeles, she became inspired to learn the fundamentals of vinyl deejaying. After completing a BA degree in Anthropology at California State University Los Angeles, Jacqueline undertook coursework in Musical Theory and Mixing at Scratch Academy Los Angeles. She moonlights as DJ 1107. At this time, Jacqueline is close to completing an MA degree program in Marriage and Family Therapy/Psychotherapy at Pacific Oaks College and intends to become a licensed MFT in the state of CA.
