Jazz is a confounding concept that defies categorisation and has gone through many transformations since its origins in the early twentieth century American South. But how far can we stretch the concept of Jazz in today’s hybridised musical landscape?

Originally broadcast on Fuse FM (The University of Manchester's student radio), 'Is That Jazz' is a show which explores how Jazz developed in the first half of the twentieth century, and how it has gone on to inform the landscape of musical production into the twenty-first century, influencing everything from disco to Brit pop, French hip-hop to Hawaiian Luau, and everything in between.
