Seeing record stores resurface and these beautifully designed hi-fi vinyl bars opening up sparked something nostalgic in me. I realized just how much I missed the old analog days. I missed buying physical music, hunting for music no one else had, and lugging crates of records from gig to gig. I even missed the tactile routine of mixing two records—including the anxiety of messing up a simple beat match.
After a twenty-year hiatus, I wanted to see if I still had it. So, I dusted off my old decks, fixed my mixer and started relearning. No laptops, no screens. Just two turntables, a mixer, and the music I loved from my golden era in the 1990s.
I’m not doing this because I think vinyl is superior; it’s just all I can handle. Digital controllers—with their endless options are too much for me. Two turntables and a mixer. All wax, all analog, and no more all-nighters. That’s why I’m In Bed Before Ten
