Long before Carnival, Samba schools, marching bands and the advent of football this distinctive Brazilian style of music and dance started when African slaves ended their religious ceremonies with informal music and dance, celebrating their traditional roots. These small gatherings often took the form of a circle or "Roda" and the tradition lives on till this day. This mix is my tribute to the Roda de Samba sound.
In my search for more material for this mix beyond my own archives I found an amazing source of Brazilian music with many styles, not just samba - a digital album with 117 tracks for the price of a couple of Caipirinha's. Here's a link if you want to check it out!
