If I could describe the sound of my mixes, it would be exactly this - A gloomy day with breaks of blue sky and sunshine. I tend to stick to the darker sound side, but like mixing it with sounds that are more upbeat and a little funky. The deep stuff I play usually has more of a "tech" sound with the drums and synths.
