We are a group of afrobeat aficionados who created this page with the aim of promoting the current global afrobeat scene. 20 years after Fela Kuti's death, afrobeat is more alive than ever. Literally every continent has afrobeat bands and it's safe to say there are more than 100 bands spread over 50 countries. This page focuses on the global scope of afrobeat nowadays, a movement that exploded since the Black President passed away in 1997, with Antibalas setting the way for an afrobeat revival. Many bands see daylight every year all over the world, making authentic afrobeat music, sometimes mixed with hiphop, dub or local influences, creating a true Global Afrobeat Movement.
