Born in 1987 in Nanaimo BC. Ill Lyrics (Steven J Dickinson) aka DJ Essay was Raised on Gabriola Island, he started break dancing and listening to hip hop and reggae at a very young age. Telepathics (Midnight & Deluxe) , Dirty Circus-Creative Minds (Sweatshop Union), Swollen Members, Dilated Peoples, Wailing Souls, Jimmy Cliff, Bob Marley & The Wailers) He always loved playing instruments starting with, (Bass guitar, drums, and acoustic guitar ) This love for music has created his style today Emcee from B.C., simple but complex in the best way of Rhyme flow. Love the Ocean the mountains and all in between. Ill produces his own instrumentals and records vocals and DJ cuts in his very own studio, the ill lounge. He has done many shows with artists such as, Sweatshop Union, Mass, Fatty down, homegrown INC, "Steelos", pudfluff, Reveal, JB1, The Shrunken Heads, and has started DJing for local house parties throwing down a sick mix of Hip-Hop, Reggae, Soul,Disco, Funk, Tribal House,N Electro
