Solstice 2021

Solstice 2021

00:00

For all my friends and followers, a two hour, fifteen minute mix for the longest night of the year, to enjoy with friends by the fire, or on your own in whatever cozy nest you've made for yourself.

This is in two parts, the first being the "downtempo" movement, the second being the "uptempo," with Matthew Dear's "Undercover" as the transition track.

This mix includes many tracks that have had particular meaning for me over the course of the pandemic, starting all the way back in Solstice 2019, and I've arranged them in such a way that is about my own journey since then. The main track I'll call out is "Brightest Lights" by Lane 8, since it was a Lane 8 show in Portland that was the last pre-Covid social experience that my partner Sorrel and I had before the apocalypse. I hope it will give you a similar experience of joy and optimism as we had back then. Many of the remaining tracks are songs to Sorrel, and how I've come to love him through all travails of the past two years.
