Fresh Sources is part of a postgraduate project by Jerry Padfield at the University of the West of Scotland into broadening participation on community radio using digital technology, open source software and covergence culture.
Working with Source FM in Falmouth, the project is an attempt to get a more diverse mix of presenters on community radio such as women, people with disabilities, the over 60s and people from rural communities. The programmes feature collaborations with Trevern care home, and St Gluvias Hall in Penryn, as well as individuals. It aims to use modern digital technology and ubiquitous devices such as smartphones to create radio content.
