Folkulaka

We are are a dark-folk band Folkulaka. The name is a play on two words: “folk” and “volkulaka” which means “werewolf” in Ukrainian. We are folk-werewolves. The mystical nature of Ukrainian folklore has always resonated with our band members, and its “dark” energy is exactly what fuels our creativity.
The band came into its calamitous existence in 2020 as a pandemic-friendly studio project, but we went on to give live performances as soon as concert venues reopened.

Folkulaka’s 4 official singles found their fans on all streaming platforms and collected thousands of views on YouTube in 2021-22’. The minimalistic EP “Осьо” (This!) has been released in June ‘23. All songs are dedi- cated to the Ukrainian fight against the russian occupants.
On stage, the band performs in outfits of otherworldly Ukrainian creatures. They are known for powerful polyphony, creepy lyrics, and musical fairy tales with and without a happy ending.
