Stephane Grappelli Special

Stephane Grappelli was the special guest on this episode of British Jazz, broadcast on 19th July 1954, on the BBC Light Programme, presented by Dill Jones and produced by Donald Maclean.

This was Ken Sykora's first radio broadcast with his own group, the Ken Sykora Six. Ken had seen Stephane perform with the Hot Club and Django in the late 30s in London, but this was the first time they actually met. The two went on to play and work together in the years that followed, most notably both appearing at the First International Django Reinhardt Festival in Liberchies in 1963 (you can see memorabilia from the festival here: http://twurl.nl/o0eydm)
